The boys and girls golf team both exceeded expectations this year. First, the girls team led by senior Alia Bolden and junior Alix Wagner, nearly qualifies for the state tournament by posting an area tournament score of 336, just 6 shy of the 330 stroke qualifying threshold. That performance marks the first time the girls team has had enough members to even post a score in quite a while! So, even though we did not qualify, significant positive steps have been made.
On the boys side, the team was led by junior Hank Stocke and sophomore Will Almand, both of whom performed at almost the same level throughout the year. In the area tournament, Hank fired his best round of the year, an 85, while Will came in at 89, also his best round of the year.
Both teams, which graduated only one senior, is optimistic about next year as interest continues to grow and more kids commit to playing golf in the off season. Next year, our goal is to not only make it to the state tournament, but also to get more and more kids out there having fun on the golf course.
